Pure Water Filter Can Enhance Water Taste

There may be times when the water supply to your house may not meet your expectations and a filter to provide pure water will be needed. In some appliances such as steam irons and for some hobbies, a pure water filter may be needed to remove any contaminants that can ruin an appliance. Running the water through a pure water filter before making coffee or tea will also result in a better taste and less waste, as it will require less coffee grounds to brew the same amount of coffee.

For those who believe in drinking only water, a pure water filter can provide the taste of clean water, unlike that drawn from the home’s tap as it removes the suspended sediment that cannot be seen with the naked eye. A quality pure water filter will also remove bacteria from the water than can compromise your health and is best for use in humidifiers. Families with infants may want to consider having a pure water filter when using water to mix the baby’s formula or other foods.

Even without any troubles with the water supply, many people will filter their water before drinking or cooking because is just plain tastes better. Most water has a certain level of minerals in it, even when coming from a commercial water source, and it can also pick up contaminants from inside the pipes before it gets to the faucet. A pure water filter will remove those particles leaving only fresh-tasting water in the glass or cup.

Determining Need For Water Filtration

If there is any question about needing a water filtering system, you can take a sample to the county board of health, which will usually provide a water analysis for free or at minimal charge. Companies that sell filtering equipment will also test your water, but will expect you to buy from them if a pure water filter is necessary.

Using a small filtering system, such as the ones that hold a single cartridge in a pitcher, take another sample to the same place and compare the different results. If there is no noticeable difference then you probably do not need a pure water filter.

One useful suggestion when obtaining a sample of water to be tested from the faucet is to use a lighter around the edge of the faucet for a few seconds to kill any bacteria that may be growing there as it will show up in the sample. After heating the end of the faucet, run the water at least a minute before pulling a sample. This insures the company trying to sell you a pure water filter is providing an accurate analysis of your water supply.
